Brittany Hendrix-Smith

Brittany Hendrix-Smith is a Certified Family Law Specialist representing clients in Contra Costa County and Solano County in a wide range of family law matters. Her practice includes divorce, child custody, child and spousal support, property division, and domestic violence restraining-order matters, with particular experience in financially complex cases involving substantial assets, retirement accounts, and related order preparation.

Prior to her tenure in family law, Brittany worked to ensure that incarcerated individuals have access to education by teaching classes across several of the state’s jails and prisons, in addition to working with the Ninth Circuit’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee. In 2013, Brittany developed curriculum and taught the first ever college-level human rights course for incarcerated individuals throughout California.

With a certification in Family Law from the State Bar of California, and a track record of successfully handling high-asset divorce and custody cases, Brittany is known for her comprehensive understanding of the law, with emphasis in the financial aspects. Her experience encompasses:

• Complex Divorces: Expertly managing the division of substantial assets, including real estate, business interests, investments, and retirement accounts.
• Complex Custody Arrangements: Crafting and negotiating parenting plans that address the unique needs of all families, including considerations for multiple residences, travel schedules, and private schooling.
• Spousal Support and Alimony: Developing fair and equitable spousal support agreements based on detailed financial analysis and projections.
• Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs): Drafting thorough orders, after calculating separate property interests, for submission to divide retirement assets and accounts.
